OSP's Current Show

Issac's Eye

Dates: June 26th – July 19th (2026)
By: Lucas Hnath

Description: To understand light and optics better, young Isaac Newton inserted a long needle “between my eye and the bone, as near to the backside of my eye as I could.” Why take such a risk? Lucas Hnath reimagines the contentious, plague-ravaged world Newton inhabited in ISAAC’S EYE, exploring the dreams and longings that drove the rural farm boy to become one of the greatest thinkers in modern science.

A heartfelt thank you to Alejandra Enciso at From Another Zero for her thoughtful review of Isaac’s Eye and for recognizing something that’s always been at the heart of OnStage Playhouse: bringing stories to our community that might not find a home anywhere else. Our next production, MENSA a new play by Salomon Maya, is coming soon, but the work doesn’t stop there. We’re still fighting to reach the finish line and need your help to bring our final production of the season, December 4th another world premiere by local author Charles Peters, from page to stage. In her review, she goes on to say “It should also be noted that all productions include the relevant set, costume, and lighting design elements, regardless of costs or financial constraints. Not an easy task, yet the standard and bar are there.”That commitment—to telling ambitious stories with care, creativity, and a fully realized theatrical experience—is only possible because of the support of our community. If you believe that San Diego deserves a home for new voices, bold ideas, and stories that might not be seen anywhere else, please consider supporting OnStage Playhouse today.❤️ Donate at OnStagePlayhouse.org🎭 Isaac’s Eye Runs June 26th – July 19thThursday - Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 5pm.📍 Get ur tickets at OnStagePlayhouse.Org ...
