Step Into the Spotlight – Support The Understudy CampaignEvery great play begins with a script. At OnStage Playhouse, we believe in the power of storytelling and the importance of amplifying local voices through our Page to Stage program. Each year, Executive Artistic Director James P. Darvas partners with multiple local playwrights to develop their original script—nurturing it from a spark of an idea to a fully produced, world premiere production on our stage. For years, this program has been made possible through a generous $20,000 grant from the California Arts Council. This year, that support didn’t come through. But as they say in theater—the show must go on.That’s where you come in.Introducing The Understudy Campaign - because when the lead takes a step back, the understudy rises to the occasion. Now, we’re asking our passionate patrons, supporters of the arts, and community members to take center stage and help us continue this vital program.By donating to The Understudy Campaign, you’re not just keeping a program alive - you’re helping elevate the voices of local playwrights, create opportunities for emerging artists, and ensure that new, meaningful stories continue to be told right here in our community.Let’s work together to keep the art of theater thriving. Let’s invest in the future of storytelling. Let’s step into the spotlight—together.Donate today. Be the understudy. Help the show go on.Donations can be made on our website:app.arts-people.com/index.php?donation=osp#sandiegotheatre #supportthearts #theunderstudycampaign #raise4plays #chulavista #theatre #sandiegotheater ... Meet Mabelle Reynoso - a local playwright whose hilarious, thought provoking, and incredibly relevant new play ‘Young Audiences’ will be premiering at OnStage Playhouse this November as part of our Page to Stage program… that is, if we can keep it going that long!!In previous years, a generous grant from the California Arts Council has funded our Page to Stage productions. This year, that funding didn’t come through and we are short the $20,000 needed to amplify the voices in our community and bring these important at stories to life on our stage. Please consider making a donation on our website to The Understudy Campaign - because the California Arts Council missed their cue and we need your help for the show to go on!#supportthearts #sandiegotheater #raise4plays #theunderstudycampaign ...
